I find that when an individual is able to identify and own their purpose, craft a powerful vision and align their thoughts, words and behaviors accordingly, success for all is inevitable!

I spent the better part of 15 years starting around 2000 promoting/selling wellness programs to mid-size (500+) employer groups. Time and again the question about ROI would come up in the initial meeting and during implementation. Six to nine months into the program the CFO or VP of Human Resources would inquire strongly as to the ROI. Internally – we would say to ourselves “you can’t predict the heart-attack that didn’t happen.” Employers are a slow bunch to adopt the “it’s the right thing to do” attitude. Thanks for your article.

Comment on Don’t Be a Wellness Hodgepodger by Ron Burt, M.Ed. https://hesonline.com/blog/program-best-practices/dont-be-a-wellness-hodgepodger/#comment-38151 Wed, 03 Mar 2021 00:34:27 +0000 https://hesonline.com/?p=21078#comment-38151 Bob, good article and a good reminder to those of us that have been in this field for 25-30 years. It is always a balancing act between keeping it simple vs. complex. Over the years I have found that less is more and as long as the program is strategic and aligns with the organizational goals, success can be achieved and employee engagement can be high. I think sometimes more bells and whistles are a distraction from a core program and one that many don’t always learn until they have been in through the rigors of program design and evaluation a few times.

Thanks for the positive comments, Ellen. Trying to see through all of this to find a path to a more rational and compassionate society. Our healthcare workers — above all others — give me hope.
